Program Content

We believe children learn best by doing; exploring the world around them by touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking.  Our class environments and curriculum are designed to be age appropriate.  Our program is split into three different areas of focus to best meet the needs of children at whatever developmental stage they are in.  Age is not the only determing factor in deciding which class best meets a child's needs.

Early Education Looping

In our Sweet Pea, Tiny Tots, Wee Angels and Little Lambs classes we provide a warm and nurturing environment for children to grow and explore.  Our ratios remain low to provide as much one-on-one time as possible.  Young children learn best when they feel secure; they develop trust and security when they know the caregivers are close by.

At KASP one caregiver moves with the children from class to class starting in our infant room and ending in our 2/3's class.  This allows the caregiver the opportunity to know a child's individual characteristics and preferences.  Our teachers develop a deep bond with the entire family, thus supporting a strong team approach.

KASP Programs

Extended Day Preschool - 3 to 5 Years

In our Shooting Stars and Explorer classes we seek to engage and challenge young minds.  KASP offers rich experiences exploring themes and seasonal experiences.  Opportunities to learn and develop through play and experimentation are given.  Language and literacy skills, mathematics, science, social studies, art drama, and music are all a part of our integrated curriculum.  Spanish and music lessons are offered as part of our regular program.

Our teachers strive to develop a sense of community within the classrooms.  We acknowledge that conflicts are a natural part of development, and inevitable in the early childhood classroom.  Teachers assist children in working through conflicts by using their words to address confrontational issues.  This allows children to learn to be respectful of others while they themselves feel valued and respected.

After Kindergarten School Program

KASP provides an after school program for children enrolled in Kindergarten through 4th grade.  We offer a safe and enriching opportunity to be with peers under direct adult supervision after K/school.

• Physical play, homework time, projects, and age appropriate games are some choices.

• The class is held Monday-Friday from 11:30 to 5:30 for half day kindergartners.

• Grades 1-4 is from 3 to 5:30 pm.

We provide transportation for children from selected neighboring schools.  We also provide full day child care for enrolled children when schools have holidays, in-service days, and extended breaks.

Kid's Kamp

During the summer, KASP offers 'Kid's Kamp',  a proram for kids entering Kindergarten through 4th grade.  This successful, multi-age program enjoys trips to a variety of parks, swimming pools, restaurants for tours, and other places such as Planet Kid and the Discovery Center.  Children also enjoy classroom guests that bring special activities into the classroom.
